Princess Consort is No Pushover! Chapter 39

Chapter 39: Blood Feud of the Past

Chu Xuanchen was puzzled and surprised in his heart, but showed nothing on his face. It was out of his expectation that Yun Ruoyue has been asking for a divorce again and again. It appeared to him that just now what she had said was for real and seriously committed to look out for another man.

He began to mull over the possibilities.

This woman, is she that quick to hook up with another man?

Or is she doing it on purpose to galvanize me?

By right, he was more than eager to divorce her at once since that she already made the call.

Yet, unexpectedly this time the word that left his lips turned out differently.

Chu Xuanchen’s eyes narrowed slightly and his thin lips hooked upwards as he replied, “Are you saying this house was yours that you could come at any time and go as you like? You would think this prince will let you have it your way? Listen carefully, even in your dead body; you have to die alone here.”

He will not let her go and get her freedom.

He refused to let Yun Qing’s daughter have a pleasing life, the more she tried to escape, the more he wanted to hold her imprisoned.

“Prince Li, how can you be so ruthless!” Yun Ruoyue chided angrily, she cursed and grunted as she shook off his hand.

Chu Xuanchen’s parents

“This prince is ruthless? I am nowhere near your father’s level. In that year he allied with the rebellious Chu Yao and led the army coup in the palace. He was the culprit who instigated my imperial father and mother’s death. Am I ruthless like him?” Chu Xuanchen’s body shook with intense indignation as he recalled his bitter experience.

At that time, Chu Xuanchen had himself witnessed the related scenes when Yun Qing killed his mother. The long sword pierced deeply into her, she screamed in agony as excruciating pain seared through her heart and she died miserably with her anguish eyes opened wide. How could he ever forget those scenes before him? How could he forgive them for the sin they had done to him and to his dead parents?

From that day on, his deep hatred and unforgiving heart had changed him totally. Over the years he could not close his eyes to sleep at night and he had long forgotten what happiness feels like.

He has to live an abominable life, for what reasons does he have to let Chu Yao, Yun Qing and their family led a normal life?

Yun Ruoyue understand Chu Xuanchen’s words, Chu Yao that he referred to was actually Emperor Hongyuan.

Before this, she has been listening to the rumour going around in the manor about her and Prince Li. According to the hearsay, her father had betrayed his imperial father and mother, which was the reason he hated her to the bones.

But in reality, nobody actually knows the truth behind the death, moreover this incident is also closely related to Emperor Hongyuan, thus, due to the sensitivity and nobody would dare or willing to talk about it.

“I don’t know what happened in that year between you and my father. Let say my father was wrong to you and your family, even so, that doesn’t mean you can hate me too. I have nothing to do or any involvement in this blood feud of the past, I am innocent.”

This man in front of her had turned a blind eye on his own conscience and let his heart be overruled by vengeance, she really wanted to knock his head and bring him back to his senses.

“You are innocent? Each one of you from the Yun’s family ran the same blood and you exclaimed yourself as innocent after he stabbed my mother to death?!” Chu Xuanchen immediately ceased speaking to Yun Ruoyue after his emotional outburst, his fiery eyes suddenly tone down as his eyelids drooped and there was a slight air of dejection on his facial expression.

When Yun Ruoyue learned about the revelation of the truth, her heart skipped a beat. She was shocked and stunned.

Is this how it happens?

Yun Qing stabbed the Imperial Empress to death with his own hands.

He also correlated with Emperor Hongyuan to overthrow the deceased Emperor Qingyun.

No wonder some people even spread rumors about it that they were rather dubious about the whole issue of the passing of the deceased Imperial Emperor and Empress. Not only that, one feels and one has wonder into the idea was blatantly implausible when Chu Yao was enthroned as the Emperor of Chu dynasty while the deceased Emperor’s only heir, Chu Xuanchen didn’t get the throne. (Please read original translation from cloudmanor.wordpress.com)

Although the public were deeply skeptical about how much they believed it, it was just mere speculation and no one dares to discuss it in the open.

In a similar manner, Yun Ruoyue know nothing much and only through hearsay that she learned about his past. After hearing his words and since that he was the sufferer, she was now believed the rumours were actually true.

After a moment, Chu Xuanchen’s expression returned back to normal, he stared at Yun Ruoyue and said, “Do you get it now, why does this prince hate you that much? I will not divorce you, even if you wish to die; your dead body still has to stay in this prince’s manor.”

When Yun Ruoyue heard the words, her voice trembled with outrage, “I didn’t kill Mo Zhu, and I didn’t harm anyone. Why don’t you just let me go?”

“Way back when, you would do by whatever means to stay beside me and to the extent that you are willing to strip naked for me every day. I could only feel sorry for you that this prince is not interested in having you. Why? And what is it with you now? Is it because you cannot have me, and for this reason, you are using your pretty face to seduce another man? Thinking of attracting the bees and butterflies in order to tarnish this prince’s reputation?” Chu Xuanchen’s snarky tone was nasty and demeaning to her.

Hazel’s thoughts:

I am extremely fond of the night sky with a beautiful full moon. Have you ever experienced sleeping under a sky full of stars and moon? I always think the night sky is mystical, magical and beautiful, although scientifically we knowing it was just a rock planet. 🙂

The picture’s theme suited this novel very much as our main character is also named Moon.
