LAM ON CITY
EAST SEA ROYAL INN

After a depressing morning of finding the young woman whom he had been searching for and then losing her again, Gu Yat Keung stomped angrily up the stairwell of the East Sea Royal Inn to his inn room on the second story. He swiped disgustingly at the front of his robe, trying to brush away the sickeningly sweet fragrance used by the women at Pearl Fragrance Pavilion.  He grimaced at he memory of being mauled by those aggressive, man-eating women. He had finally managed to escape by making threatening gestures with his daggers, scaring them off. Reaching the threshold of this room, he swung open his inn room door, his mood dark.

GU YAT KEUNG’S INN ROOM

Keung muttered to himself as he stepped into the room. “Women…can’t live with them, can’t live without them…”

Fei, who sat at the table, his fingers tapping a discordant rhythm on the tabletop, burst out, “Finally! Where have you been all morning?”

Rice Pot Next Door: Chapter 61

Kazuma and RyuhoDespite being in their twenties, this romance feels more and more like a teenage, high-school, romance.  That aside, the rivalry between Qiao Feng and Song Zi Cheng is hilarious and I think you will appreciate the humor in today’s chapter, not to mention Wu Wen’s offer to help.   I am short of time when I edit this so do pardon any spelling or grammar mistakes, if any.  Have a happy weekend!

Rice Pot Next Door: Chapters 59 & 60

happyYey! We are at Chapter 60, the three-quarter mark of this book! **wipe tear of joy**  We have seen Lan Shan and Qiao Feng progressing from strangers, to neighbours, to besties, to fake couple, and now to-be-real couple, and I like to thank you for still on board this rather long-winded train.  If you have found the earlier chapters funny, I think you will also like this chapter where Qiao Feng will  make you laugh and want to bash his head at the same time. : )  Have a great weekend!

DAWN THE FOLLOWING MORNING
FIVE MILES FROM LAM MANOR
FOREST

Gu Yat Fei tenderly brushed aside her bangs. “Why did you save him last night?”

The simple joy of being in his arms vanished as Siu Han sighed and wandered a few steps away to pick nervously at the leaves on a low-hanging tree branch.

Rice Pot Next Door: Chapters 58 & 59

kim bungdoIn some sense, Qiao Feng is quite similar to Kim Bung-Do from Queen In-Hyun’s Man.  Both are scholars, players and can revv from 0 to 100kph in like 2 seconds flat. Whoa! Hold the horses. What just happened?

We left off the last chapter with Qiao Feng walking out on a little monk.  To his credit, he did not go for a hormone test nor did he went in search of holy water although he did seek Divine Advice and we get to meet the fantastic Mommy Qiao and Daddy Wu as a result.  Can I say again that he has the best-est family ever?  It is refreshing to see a normal, supportive family for once in a novel, and I love their family fabric as much as I love all their electronic hugs and kisses.

Yan leaned down and picked up the manual.  “Book of Sun Moon Swordplay?”  She asked Chung Nam curiously.  “Is this yours?”

“No,” Chung Nam shook his head.  “The old man gave it to me just before he left.  I assume it’s the accompanying martial arts manual to the Swords of Sun and Moon.”

“A sword manual?”  Yan exclaimed excitedly.  She started eagerly flipping through the pages, but ended up frowning in confusion, instead.  “It’s blank!”

Rice Pot Next Door: Chapter 57

Wishing plagues

Wishing plaques

I like this chapter which is a mixture of  the cute, the funny, and the hint of romance in the air. Although Qiao Feng is academically very smart, he is really hopeless at chasing girls and Song Zi Cheng is really much better than him on this score.  Better yet, he still doesn’t even realize that he is chasing after a girl and always know just the right thing to say to confuse Lan Shan.   Poor girl.  Let’s hope if his hormone test or some holy water will help clarify the situation.

Rice Pot Next Door: Chapter 56 (‘cont)

I know I have said that the next post will be long, but gosh, it is so long I have decided to put up the remaining of Chapter 56.  Although Song Zi Cheng has came across as a self-centred man, he is starting to get to me here with his unwilling attraction for Lan Shan and I like to wish him the best of luck with our Blue beauty.

Of course, AP Qiao knows this and will not be contented to take a back seat even if he has not realised that he has fallen for Lan Shan. So of course we will see him interfering and of course it is going to be lots of fun.  Ladies and gentleman, let me present to you the fun and beauty at West Lake, Hang Zhou (City H).
